Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Alito is a quartz countertop and surfacing product that has a variety of uses in your home or business such as countertops, backsplashes, floor tile, vanities, fireplace surrounds, wet bars, showers, etc. Alito consists of pure, natural quartz—one of the hardest and most common minerals on Earth—and pigments and binders. Some of our designs have the natural look and feel of granite, marble, and other quarried stones, but they all feature superior performance because of Alito’s strength and durability. Alito is non-absorbent and nonporous and will not absorb food and liquids. And best of all, it is maintenance free.
Quartz mineral is as common as sand, yet tougher than steel, with a hardness of 7 compared with the 10 of a diamond (Mohs scale). Resistant to stains, scratches and cracks, quartz is impervious to heat and cold and to common household chemicals.
Quartz surfaces combine form and function, allowing for the most diverse, durable, and practical applications. Our surfaces retain the cool, tactile qualities of natural stone, while offering design freedom with almost unlimited application possibilities in hygienic, durable, and beautiful surfaces.
Alito is made from Natural Quartz, one of the hardest minerals on Earth, for superior durability and performance. With Alito, you get the look and feel of granite, but with the benefit of it being non-absorbent and maintenance free. Simply clean Alito with warm water, a soft cotton cloth, and mild soap, if desired. Alito is stain resistant and never needs sealing or reconditioning.
We are an experienced and well known company in the surface business. Our design options are significantly different, reflecting our knowledge and responsiveness to the marketplace.

Alito is made from pure natural quartz, pigments, and binders. Quartz is the extremely hard mineral that gives Alito its strength. Our unique process results in a quartz product of uncommon elegance, style, and superior durability.
Our slab manufacturing facility converts natural quartz into slabs by combining quartz with a small amount of pigment and binders. Through the process, we are able to create slabs that are non-absorbent, durable, and compact.
Alito is an excellent surface choice for a wide variety of uses, including kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities, shower and tub surrounds, furniture table tops and accent pieces, fireplace surrounds, desktops, wet bar areas, and window sills. No, keeping with its care-free promise, Alito requires no sealing, polishing, or reconditioning. Simply wipe with warm water, a soft cotton cloth, and mild soap, if desired. Due to its non-absorbent nature, and unlike granite, it does NOT require regular sealing and is stain resistant.
Can I add polish to make my Alito shiny?
Alito countertops never need polishing or sealing, which means countertop maintenance can be crossed off your to-do list for good.
Alito is durable and more resistant to surface damage than other stones. However, all stone can be damaged by force and no stone is chip-proof. Objects hitting edges, particularly at sinks or dishwashers, may cause chips. Alito is scratch resistant; however, no stone surface is scratch-proof. Surface markings are more visible on monotone designs than multi-coloured surfaces.
Natural stone surfaces can be damaged by sudden and/or rapid changes of temperature, especially near the edges, as well as direct and/or sustained heating of the top. Alito may not withstand the direct transfer of heat from pots and pans and other cooking units such as electric frying pans and griddles, slow cookers, roaster ovens, and heat lamps. Therefore, the use of a closed-weave hot pad or solid trivet such as a breadboard is always recommended to prevent heating the product. Alito’s nonporous and non-absorbent surface is resistant to staining and eliminates the need for any sealing. Its nonporous surface also greatly reduces the potential for bacterial growth from food absorbing into your countertop.
Residues on the surface of Alito can simply be removed using warm water, a soft cotton cloth, and a mild soap if desired.
Yes, Alito is non-absorbent and is NSF* 51 Certified for food and splash zones in kitchens.
